Multi-Factor Authentication, also called MFA or 2FA, is an extra layer of protection to help keep your network safe. It is becoming more important every day as hackers get better at what they do! Most Cyber Insurance policies are now requiring MFA security or they will either decline to bind a policy or dramatically increase the premiums you pay.
Before you think, “that sounds complicated”… don’t worry. For the end user it’s not!
The easiest type of MFA uses cell phones to send a code to type in on the computer. Some don’t even require you to download an app. They send the authentication code via a standard text message!
Before you read any further… you probably have a few personal accounts that you should enable MFA on right now! Any online account that stores banking, credit card or social security numbers needs to have MFA turned on. Think about your personal banking websites, that credit monitoring service you use such as Credit Karma, or shopping sites like Amazon.
ALL of those allow you to turn on MFA to protect them. DO IT NOW! Think it’s a hassle?? Would you rather spend an extra 3-5 seconds typing in a number, or have to deal with credit fraud?
