The old Windows Photo Viewer many people loved in Windows 7 is missing from Windows 10. Do you want it back? Here is how….
1 - Right Click on the Download button below and pick Save As or Save Link As
2 - After the download completes, Open the file. Some browsers will give a warning that the file type is dangerous or blocked. Normally, that’s 100% correct.. but this file actually is safe and you can allow it to download.
3 - You may get a warning that the file publisher could not be verified, click the Run button.
4 - If User Account Control is enabled, you may be prompted with a message asking you to allow it to make changes to your computer, click/tap on Run, Yes (UAC) to allow it.
5 - Next you will get a popup from Registry Editor, asking if you are sure you want to continue. Tell it Yes to continue. (we really do want to make a change)
If everything worked correctly, you should get a message that the keys and values have been successfully added to the registry. Now the ole familiar photo viewer from Windows 7 will be back on your Windows 10 computer.
You can now delete the downloaded .reg file if you like.
You can set the restored Photo Viewer program as the default for opening image files, by right clicking on an image file, click Open With, then Choose another app. Pick Windows Photo Viewer then click in the “Always use…” box
